START A CONVERSATION
Tell me what’s changing.
You do not need to show up with a polished brief or already know whether you need brand strategy, architecture, creative direction, a new identity, or something else entirely.
Start where you are and begin with the organization as it exists today:
What is growing? What is becoming harder to explain? What no longer fits together as clearly as it once did?
I’ll review what you share and help determine whether Bent Barn is the right partner for the work ahead.
A GOOD PLACE TO BEGIN
This conversation may be helpful when the visible request is not the whole problem.
Your organization has outgrown its current story
The company has evolved, but its identity, messaging, or digital presence still reflects an earlier version of the work.
Too many parts are competing for clarity
Several audiences, offers, priorities, or stakeholder perspectives need to be organized into a more coherent system.
Something new needs a place within the whole
You are launching an initiative, platform, offer, division, or campaign and need to understand how it should relate to the parent brand.
Your team needs direction before production
You have people capable of creating the work but need experienced strategic and creative leadership to determine what should be made—and why.
You may also bring a completely different challenge. The important thing is that something consequential is changing in your organization and that leadership is willing to participate in understanding it.
Start with what you know.
I may be a teacher, but this is not a test—and you do not need to have every answer.
Your answers will help me better understand the organization, the moment you’re navigating, and whether my particular combination of strategy, architecture, and creative direction is likely to be useful.
I review every inquiry personally.
AFTER YOU REACH OUT
A clear beginning, without a pressured sales process.
01 · I’ll review your inquiry
I read every submission personally and consider the organizational challenge, alignment, timing, and likely scope of the work.
02 · I’ll respond with a direction
You can expect a response within three business days. If the opportunity appears aligned, I’ll invite you to a focused introductory conversation.
03 · We’ll discuss whether we’re a good fit
The introductory conversation gives us both an opportunity to understand the situation, discuss readiness and decision-making, and determine whether working together makes sense. This is a mutual-fit conversation (not a free strategy session or a pressured sales call).
04 · I’ll recommend the next step
Depending on what the situation requires, I may recommend a Brand Turning Point Diagnostic, a larger Brand Architecture + Activation engagement, a Creative Direction Chapter, a more focused project, or another specialist better suited to the need.
Sometimes the most useful first outcome is simply greater clarity about where the work should begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. In many cases, uncertainty about the right solution is the reason to begin with Bent Barn.
You should, however, be able to describe what is changing, why it matters now, and who needs to participate in resolving it.
-
Yes! When an identity, website, campaign, publication, or other creative expression is the appropriate response to the larger organizational need.
Bent Barn no longer operates primarily as an à la carte production studio, so I may not be the right fit for an isolated deliverable with no strategic or structural component.
-
Yes. Bent Barn works with both for-profit and nonprofit organizations when the purpose, resources, leadership access, and scope are aligned.
Meaningful work still requires an appropriate budget and sustainable expectations.
-
Absolutely. Many organizations already have internal marketers, designers, developers, writers, or trusted vendors.
Bent Barn can provide the strategic architecture and creative direction that helps those resources work together more coherently.
-
Depending on the engagement, I may design selected priority materials, direct internal or external creative teams, remain involved through a defined activation chapter, or prepare the system for transfer.
The goal is not permanent dependence. It is stronger creative judgment and capability within the organization.
-
I will be honest about that.
When possible, I may suggest a different type of partner or a more appropriate next step rather than forcing the situation into an engagement that does not serve either of us.
You are not entering a sales funnel.
Bent Barn is a small, independent practice. When you reach out, you are writing directly to me, Aaron, the person who will think with you, guide the engagement, and remain closely involved in the creative work ahead.
I value clear expectations, honest conversations, humane timelines, and the freedom for both of us to recognize when the fit is right (or when it is not).
